A slip-on flange is a connecting ring that slips over the end of a pipe. The flange is able to slide back and forth on the pipe for easy positioning, and both the inside and outside of the pipe need to be welded to the slip on flange. Slip on flange is suitable for low pressure and temperature applications.

This type of flange is the most widely used type in process piping, it is designed to be connected by a butt weld connection to the pipe. Weld neck flanges are used in high pressure and temperature applications.

A blind flange is a solid flange with bolt hole. It is used to close the end of pipe or equipment. Blind pipe flange is also used as a manhole cover in the vessel.

A plate flange is a flat, ring disc with bolt hole. This type of flange is welded to the end of a pipe and bolted to another pipe. Two plate flanges can be bolted together with a gasket between them. Plate flanges are suitable for low pressure and temperature applications.

Threaded / Screwed flanges are designed to connect flanges and pipes by means of threads. It means that the male threads of the pipe are screwed into the female threads of the flange to complete the connection of the piping process. Threaded flanges are suitable for low pressure and temperature applications.

Socket weld flange (SW) is designed for small size and high-pressure pipeline, it has a socket end in flange bore for pipe to insert it and do fillet welding.

A lap joint flange (LJF flange) is also called loose flange, it has two components, a stub end and a loose backing flange. Stub end is butt welded to the pipe and backing flanges freely moves over the pipe. LJF flange is particularly used for frequent dismantling or hard-to-adjust pipe connection.
